I had the Galaxy buds plus which were alright. The sound was pretty good, but they did not stay in consistently and hurt my ears after a while. I had to get the Galaxy buds live because I had somehow lost the Galaxy buds plus. I immediately noticed better sound quality and when I called people they could hear me much better. One if the main problems I had with these earbuds is that they could never stay in for more than a minute without me having to adjust them, which led to songs/videos being paused or skipped since the buds are touch activated. I found the alternate rubber ear piece that I inserted which did help, but now instead of adjusting the ear buds every minute I was adjusting about every 2-3 minutes or so. An improvement, but still not ideal. I could never figure out why this was the case. I read the instructions carefully too, so I wasn't really going in blind. Maybe I just have small ears?
- Recently the volume in my right ear significantly decreased for whatever reason. There is an option to balance the sounds for each earbud, which I had to do; however this decreases the sound quality significantly. I have only had these earbuds for a little over 4 months and I am already having these
- I have been on the search for the ‘perfect’ earbuds for almost a year and because of that, I have bought and returned several sets. I was actually on the verge of buying the Buds Plus+ but decided to buy the Galaxy Buds Live on launch day.My requirements for a ‘perfect’ earbud are: each bud can work independently (i.e. no master/slave), ability to use Google and Amazon voice assist, ability to pair and switch between multiple devices easily, compatible with my Samsung Galaxy phone, noise cancelling, and no ear fatigue. I don’t know why but finding all these things in an earbud has been much harder than I thought it would be.
- Amazon Alexa Buds – Liked all the features but too much ear fatigue, very touch sensitive which lead to too many accidental call disconnections.
- Samsung Galaxy Buds (original) – Slight ear fatigue, too much noise cancelling for my taste.
- AirPod Pros: Nice buds but since I am on Android, I lose a lot of the features that are available when they are connected to an iPhone.
- Here is what I think of these:
- The Sound: I am not an audiophile but for me the sound is great. It is loud and clear. I like being able to change the equalizer on the Galaxy Wearable App.
- Active Noise Cancelling: Does not seem as strong as the original Galaxy Buds; however, as a mom I can’t completely shut myself off from the outside world; I need to be able to hear what is going on and if my kids are yelling for me. However, there is some cancellation there as I was listening to music and didn’t even really notice by robot vacuum start up like I would if I weren’t wearing these. I can also hear myself talk which helps me regulate my voice from being too loud. (My kids always told me I was yelling when I was wearing the Galaxy Buds)
- Call Quality: I am on many conference calls throughout the day and this is the reason I bought these buds. Calls are clear and without static. Another review mentioned the person on the end said the wearer sounded far away but that has not been my experience so far.
- Pairing: I have paired these buds to several devices so far – my computer, my Samsung Galaxy phone and my iPad. Pairing to the computer was very quick and seamless; however, once I tried to pair to my Samsung phone, it took about 15 minutes. I believe that was due to the fact the buds were still paired to my computer. No issues pairing to my iPad like I did with my phone. Since the initial set up, switching between devices has been much easier and almost seamless.
- Battery Life: I feel like I have hardly worn them today and they are already at 54%. Will need to give more time to see if battery drain is a big issue.
- Edit 1/12/2021 - have not had issues with battery draining quickly.
- Edit 2/1/2021 - I realized I have not charged the buds/case in weeks and after being on numerous conference calls over the past week, it finally said low battery today! Definitely pleased with the battery life.
- Voice Assist: By just holding the left earbud, I can summon Alexa quickly and easily to do by bidding.
- In summary: These are slightly
- than I wanted to pay for a bud but overall they check all the boxes for me. Price is cheaper than AirPod Pros and the unique shape makes them comfortable for me to wear.

- I got these on sale during prime day for $80, and for that price these are pretty good.
- I didn't expect much from an earbud, and yeah it's not great. I notice it a little bit, but my v1 galaxy buds cancel out noise better by just fitting deeper and more snug in the ear. And it doesn't even remotely compare to my bose over ear noise canceling headphones (but that's not a fair comparison). I can't wear these while mowing the lawn, the mower will drown them out. It seems highly dependent on the shape of your ear as to how well the noise cancelling works.
- Sound quality is great for earbuds. Better than my galaxy buds v1. I'm not a big audiophile, but I do notice differences in sound quality.
- I have small ears, so I was skeptical these would even fit at all. They do fit, and are not uncomfortable, and they stay in my ears even when working out. However, I think optimal results for things like noise cancelling are highly dependent on the shape of your ear. My ears are simply not shaped to fit the way they do in the advertising. I watched many videos of how to wear them the "proper" way and I think I am, but my ear shape just doesn't allow for optimal results with noise cancelling.
- If you can get them on sale, they're a decent set, but I would not recommend them in situations where you need to block out lots of background noise. I only wear these when working at home our out in my yard in a quiet setting. If I'm on a plane, or mowing the lawn, I'd reach for my v1 galaxy buds or bose over ear headphones. You may win the genetic lottery where your ear is shaped perfectly for these and its more effective, but it's hard to know until you wear them.
- I bought these as my Buds Plus+ had one bud dying, and Prime had a good sale so thought would be a time to try them out. Honestly, with the weird kidney shape, was thinking "this is going to be a bad decision". To my suprise, they actually are quite good. Took awhile to get used to the "fitting process" as it is not your standard buds experience jamming it into your ear canal - but once laid in - they were very comfortable and I was shocked at how good and clear the sound was. They are a bit more sensitive to the position in the ear - but stay stable while walking/running - the only time I could impact them was when yawning and moving my jaw - which would cause a change in the sound which would go back once the yawn ended. Arguably better than my prior buds (once seated correctly) . The active noise cancelling is pretty much non-existent. I have multiple ANC headphones/buds - and what these Live buds have is maybe 5-10% as effective as others I have used. So if you are buying it "just" for ANC - keep shopping.
